Increase Not Competition

How many times have you been to a business workshop or seminar and they teach to get the competitive edge, go and see what your competitors are doing, analyze their competitive edge, and see where you can do better.

True you need to know your business, you need to know if you are prepared to do the work necessary to succeed, that is what you need to know. You also need to know if there is a need for your product or service. Outside of that, use your time to be different, to think differently. To be different. You can increase the requirement for your service or good, you do not necessarily have to compete for existing trade. Radical statement, yes, it is true, try it.
I recently read a really interesting book, The Science Of Getting Rich by Wallace D Wattles. It is a 1910 classic. In his book Wallace dedicates a chapter to ‘Increasing Life’. He makes five statements that may be of value to you.

  1. You do not have to take anything from anyone.
  2. You do not have to drive sharp bargains.
  3. You do not have to cheat or take advantage
  4. You do not need to let anyone one work for you for less than he earns.
  5. You do not have to covet the property of others or to look at it with wishful eyes.

When you rid yourself of the thought of competition you put yourself in a position of thinking, creative thinking. You put yourself in a position where you can put your time into creating a better structure, a systemized approach, a place where your thoughts can go to: how do I make my business, a place where people would like to come? How do I provide the service that people want to recommend me to others? How do I make the working environment one that people want to serve and help clients? It is these types of questions that will set you apart and increase will happen.

When you are in the, increase phase, you ask yourself questions, you get answers, and you change the environment of your business, you involve your team and your team becomes your business. Growth happens. It is a great stage, it works, and you are growing and making a difference.

Enjoy the growth phase of your business, do not try to control the lot, let your team in, you will be surprised at how much more can be accomplished with more hands and more minds. Do not be afraid of growth.
