Goals and Dreams

It is a paradoxical but profoundly true and important principle of life that the most likely way to reach a goal is to be aiming not at that goal itself but at some more ambitious goal beyond it. – Arnold Toynbee I believe, that the size of our achievement, is directly related to the ‘size’ of our thinking. In other words, when you think big, your picture is big and you drive yourself more; if you think small, your picture is small therefore you do not push yourself. Have you set goals in your life that you think are well …

Environment for Success

We all know that what we put into and feed our bodies produces certain results in our bodies…we either feel great and healthy ; full of vitality and energy, or we feel bad, perhaps overweight, with little energy. The same can be said for the way that we feed our minds. The mind reflects what its environment feeds it; if you are surrounded by negativity this is what will be absorbed, but surround yourself with positive people in a nurturing environment, and this will be reflected in your thinking. The environment that we grow up in as children has a …

What makes us different?

Yesterday as I was working through some tax issues with clients I become very frustrated because I just could not communicate effectively the point I was trying to make. I said, “I have had enough, I cannot make you understand, and we are going round in circles. We are wasting each others time. You need to go back to the professional you had, it is obvious that we cannot work together” Then something wonderful happened, the blockage to our communication seemed to vanished. One of the clients said, “You are the first person who has actually taken the time to …

Estate Planning and Wills

“Irena I am going on a cruise and I thought that I had better clear up a few things. Can I bring our important documents for you to hold while we are away and I would like to have a chat?” No problems. Michael bought the documents down and we discussed his will. As he said,” You never know what tomorrow brings so it is best to be prepared.” Fortunately we had recently completed this will instruction booklet so we were able to give him one, which he use, he said that it was helpful in clarifying his thoughts. The …

Fair Exchange

It is unwise to pay too much, but but its unwise to pay too little. When you pay too much you loose a little money, that is all. When you pay too little, you sometimes loose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing you bought it to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. It cannot be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that, you will have enough to pay …

You made your bed, lie in it.

If that was true we could look forward to a truly uninteresting and mundane life. A life filled with regret and if only’s for some of us. Ever Thursday morning I take time and spend it with my daughter Rachael and her new born son Isaac. We take the dogs for a walk, stop at the shops, have a chi latte then return home. Simple, however I am blessed that I can do that because there was a time that I would not have been welcomed as I am now. Families go through ‘interesting times’ and the beauty is that …

Take Your Time

Time is one of the gifts we are given in this lifetime. Have you ever looked at the way you are using it? Yvonne Chamberlain, the author of the book ‘Why Me’ hosted one of our wild women weekends and during the course of our meeting she said, we all have 24 hours a day, some choose to spend it, some choose to use it and some choose to invest it. I had never thought of time as being spent, used nor invested, investing to me was related to money. What a realm of opportunity was opened to me when …

Are you held hostage?

It really is amazing how we put ourselves into situations and then allow ourselves to become victims. Our world stops when the budget is announced, we wait for crumbs to be sent our way so we feel good. I watch with interest; seeing the majority of people stop, wait, and then all the analysis, everyone with their barrow to push, and like lemmings we go with this thought or that thought. All for immediate results, a quick fix. The government has done this or that, one comment that I read with amazement, “we need to put money into education” another …

I want to make dill cucumbers

Years of getting the soil right and now I have cucumbers, masses of cucumbers; I can finally make my dill cucumbers. So what do I need; of course, cucumbers, large glass jars, salt, dried dill stalks, garlic and boiling water. I got the dried dill stalls from mum. The first lot I tried, I put in too much salt, they were ok, a little on the salty side, yesterday I open another jar I had made and they were perfect. It only takes minutes to put the ingredients into the jar, leave it out in a warm area so it …
